Foliar Feeding Plants
By Jon Frank
Join us for a free 30-day mini course!
I am offering a 30-article series looking at the practice of foliar feeding and its role in growing nutrient dense foods as well as its impact on yield as it assists crop physiology. This article series will be useful for both large and small growers.
The objective of this email course is to teach the who, what, where, when, and why of foliar feeding and to also show how foliar feeding integrates with plant tissue testing for even greater value.

Foliar Feeding Plants
The bleeding edge of high tech agriculture incorporates some or all of the following:
- Microbial Inoculants
- Trace Minerals
- Foliar Sprays
All of these areas are broad and generally frowned upon by the university approach. Yet smart farmers are incorporating many of these practices into their farming program. The key is to use microbial inoculants, trace minerals, foliar sprays, and biostimulants to energize and excel what is already being done.
Like it or not, the university programs are slowly coming around to the idea of biological agriculture. Mostly because they are being pulled along by smart operators who want an explanation of why certain things are happening.
Many universities have boldly proclaimed that foliar feeding plants doesn't work. At the same time many farmers and gardeners are saying it does work. Who is right? The answer may surprise you. They both are.
When foliar sprays are poorly formulated or wrongly applied, it is indeed true that they don't work. On the other hand many a smart farmer knows that precise foliar feeding is his or her ace in the hole.
So here is my question for you today. What is your favorite book on foliar feeding plants? Tell me if you can? That's right...there is no such book! Why? The only thing that comes close is a scientific symposium of research papers. Where are the books to help farmers and gardeners foliar feed their crops?
Foliar feeding is the unexplored territory of crop nutrition. Those who truly understand the science are far and few between.
In my 30 article series we will be looking at the practice of foliar feeding and its role in growing nutrient dense foods. We will also look at its impact on yield as it assists crop physiology. This article series will be useful for both large and small growers.
As in the past, the delivery will be done by email. The first article started on Friday, June 19th and the rest will be delivered over a 90-day format. It is a work in progress.
I am really excited about a couple of developments along the way beyond the articles. These will be announced during the course.
The objective of this email course is to teach the who, what, where, when, and why of foliar feeding. We will also show how foliar feeding integrates with plant tissue testing for even greater value.

I look forward to our journey together,
